destination wedding in Thailand? Bangkok makeup artist Parisa Fellone on finding the right artist, booking timelines and what to expect as an international bride.">

Bangkok has become one of Asia's most popular destination wedding cities — and for good reason. World-class hotels, extraordinary food, relatively affordable luxury, and a beauty and wellness infrastructure that rivals any city in the world. For international brides flying in for their Thailand wedding, here is everything you need to know about booking and working with a Bangkok makeup artist.
Bangkok's destination wedding market has grown significantly over the past decade, driven by international couples from Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US who want the combination of luxury, affordability and Asia's beauty and warmth.
The city's hotel infrastructure is exceptional — the Mandarin Oriental, the Capella, the Rosewood, the Peninsula, the Anantara. All have ballrooms and gardens that make spectacular wedding venues. And unlike many luxury destination wedding cities, the cost is significantly lower than equivalent venues in Singapore or Hong Kong.
For brides who love the idea of a Thai wedding aesthetic — the florals, the traditional elements, the warmth of the culture — Bangkok offers something genuinely unreplicable.

When reviewing potential makeup artists:
Look at their portfolio specifically for: skin tones similar to yours (or the range of tones in your bridal party), real wedding images rather than editorial or studio shoots, and clear evidence that they can do the style you want — not just their signature look.
Check their English language ability. International clients need a makeup artist who can communicate clearly, understand references and accommodate requests. Most professional Bangkok makeup artists working with international clients are comfortable in English.
Read reviews from international clients specifically. Their experience — logistics, communication, transportation, timing — will be more relevant to yours than reviews from local Thai clients.

Bangkok's top makeup artists for destination weddings book out six to twelve months in advance for peak season (November through February). If you are planning a peak season wedding, start looking immediately after your venue is confirmed.
For off-peak weddings (March through October, excluding Thai holidays), three to six months typically gives you good options.
What to secure first: your date hold. Most Bangkok makeup artists will hold a date for a short period on a deposit — this secures your artist while you finalise other details.
What to confirm before deposit: communicate your expected start time, number of people in the bridal party, your hotel or venue, and any specific requirements (trial date, additional artist needs for large parties).
bridal trial when you are flying in">A bridal trial when you are not based in Bangkok requires some planning.
Option one: fly in the day before or two days before the wedding and schedule the trial on arrival. This is the most thorough approach — you have time for adjustments before the wedding morning.
Option two: visit Bangkok on an earlier trip — three to six months before the wedding — for the trial. This requires an additional visit but means your wedding morning is truly the second time you wear the look.
Option three (when visiting is not possible): conduct an online trial consultation via video call, sharing photos and reference images. This is less precise than an in-person trial but establishes clear communication before the wedding morning.
I always recommend option one or two for international brides. The trial is too important to skip.

The more information you give your Bangkok makeup artist before the wedding, the better the result.
Send: photos of your dress (front, back, neckline and shoulder details), photos of your headpiece and jewellery if you have them, photos of your venue (both interior and exterior if relevant), a curated selection of reference images (three to five, not forty), any skin concerns or sensitivities, your typical skin type (oily, dry, combination), and your expected schedule for the morning.
All of this can be shared via LINE before the wedding. The more Parisa knows coming in, the less time is needed on the morning to establish the plan — and the more time can be spent on actually creating the look.

Thailand has become one of Southeast Asia's most sought-after wedding destinations — not only for its venues, food and culture, but increasingly for the quality of its creative professionals. Bangkok makeup artists and hair stylists work to an international standard, often at a price point that would be impossible to access in major Western cities.
International brides flying in from Australia, the UK, the United States and Europe have been particularly drawn to Bangkok's T-Beauty aesthetic — the dewy, luminous, skin-focused approach that photographs exceptionally well in tropical light and holds through heat and humidity. It is a look that is genuinely difficult to achieve with Western makeup techniques, which are typically designed for cooler, drier climates and different light conditions.
Practical considerations matter too. Bangkok is a well-connected hub — direct flights from most major cities make it accessible for destination weddings without the logistical complexity of more remote island venues. English is widely spoken in the professional beauty industry. And the combination of world-class venues, exceptional food and a style of beauty work that the rest of the world is only beginning to discover makes Bangkok a destination that rewards the decision to travel for your wedding.
