The single most important factor in bridal makeup choice is not your dress, your skin tone, or even the season. It is your venue lighting.

A Bangkok rooftop wedding at sunset calls for a completely different approach than a hotel ballroom under crystal chandeliers. Natural light is forgiving — it loves a dewy, glowing base with soft eyes and a sheer lip. Artificial light, particularly flash photography, requires more definition — contour, structured eyes, a more opaque base.

When we have a bridal trial, one of the first things I ask is: send me photos of your venue. I look at the light before I look at anything else.

Match your makeup to your dress, not the other way around

A heavily beaded, structured gown calls for a polished, defined look — clean skin, precise liner, a bold lip or strong eye. A flowing chiffon dress works beautifully with something softer — diffused eyes, peachy cheeks, a glossy lip.

The most common mistake I see brides make is falling in love with a makeup look on Instagram without considering whether it will balance their dress. A smoky editorial eye on a bride in a simple silk slip gown can look jarring. A bare, minimal face on a bride wearing full sequins can look unfinished.

Book early — Bangkok's best makeup artists are booked months in advance for peak wedding season (November to February). Contact at minimum six months before your date.

Schedule your trial the day before or the morning before your wedding, so any adjustments are still possible.
